Our engineers’ precise attention to detail, customer care and commitment to quality mean our ‘WAVs’ carry a market-leading reputation across the world. Brotherwood® are today regarded as the pioneers of the modern ‘Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle’, having changed the perception of disabled transport from conspicuous high-roof vans to discreet everyday wheelchair cars.

Unlike ‘large volume’ wheelchair vehicle converters, our priority is not to sell you a vehicle. Instead we aim to provide the wheelchair accessible vehicle best suited your needs. We offer a wide range of wheelchair adapted vehicles from manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Volkswagen and more. Our friendly, experienced staff can carefully consult with you to discuss your personal mobility needs. With 34 years experience of vehicle conversions, we are familiar with all of the issues that can arise when transporting wheelchair users by car, and can work with you to provide a practical solution. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent, personal, efficient service, to every client.

Brotherwood® are the pioneers of the modern day Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. Our appetite for innovation still drives the company forward to this day, and our history is full of industry firsts:
• First wheelchair conversion to be integrated into a standard passenger car
• First convertor to achieve standard low volume type approval
• First convertor to achieve both European Whole Vehicle Type Approval and PAS-2012:1-2012 Compliance
• First convertor to create a ‘passenger up-front’ wheelchair accessible vehicle
• First convertor to create a Sports Utility wheelchair accessible vehicle
• First convertor to create a fully electric wheelchair accessible vehicle

Whilst our ethos has remained unchanged, Brotherwood® has grown to employ over 50 staff and apprentices producing hundreds of vehicles per year at our dedicated production facility near Sherborne in Dorset. With this experience we have adopted industry-leading design and engineering techniques to ensure that our vehicles deliver an outstanding travelling experience for all.

We have strived to establish harmonised safety standards across the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle market, ensuring that our vehicles are independently tested and approved to the highest levels.
Throughout these changes we have retained our core principle: to fully understand and appreciate your lifestyle, in order to provide you with the very best Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle for your needs

New Brotherwood® Carete Launch Trailer

“On a drive from Paris to Derbyshire the car came up trumps. The family had a rapid, smooth and comfortable ride home and my powerchair bound daughter was fully supported in a horizontal position the whole way. The vehicle swallowed the luggage (there’s a lot when someone is disabled and on a ventilator and feeding tube) and there was still plenty of room to get in and do what needed doing for her without having to get her out into the cold. The cargo net you suggested and fitted was invaluable in holding the grips out of the path of the chair so we had easy access without needing to decant luggage in the rain. The car was so quiet we could keep the radio low even at 80mph (in France!) and it just ate up the miles, amazingly economically. The automatic doors and ramp, plus the self- tensioning wheelchair restraints, made all the difference to carers on their knees and the cab gave us a wonderful feeling of luxury and comfort. We can’t thank you enough for this wonderful vehicle. The only problem is it’s spoiled us – we’ll never be able to settle for anything less now!”

Customer review

“From first contact to the delivery of our new vehicle the service from Brotherwood was second to
none! The vehicle itself is top spec!! We are 20 years buying adapted vehicles for our son and
this is by far the best adaption. Down to the fine details of the lights on the floor to guide the
wheelchair in in the dark. My son is so happy with this vehicle and we would 100% recommend
Brotherwood.”
