Bendrigg Trust

Bendrigg Trust is a specialist outdoor centre and charity, we provide fully inclusive short breaks at our centre based in Kendal, Cumbria on the outskirts of the stunning Lake District & Yorkshire Dales National Parks.

Our 64 bed centre has 2 accommodation buildings, Acorn House (sleeps 24) & Bendrigg Lodge (sleeps 40) the accommodation is suitable for people with varying needs and disabilities and can be best seen in our guided tour.

Activities such as Caving, Canoeing, Climbing and Cycling are made accessible to all through the use of specialist equipment and our professional and highly skilled staff team.

Residential packages are available for Families & Adults of all abilities as well as Organised Groups from Schools & Charities.

We run several open “Family Courses” on specific dates throughout the year where families with a disabled member/s can come away for a “short break” usually ranging from 2 – 5 nights in duration. Families will take part in lots of activities alongside each other whilst also being provided with the opportunity to socialise and meet other families in similar situations. We fundraise to try and keep prices as low as possible for families.

We also run several open “Adult Courses” on specific dates throughout the year where adults with a disability can come away for a “short break” usually ranging from 3 – 7 nights in duration. Adults will take part in a range of activities and socialise to meet other people in similar situations. We fundraise to try and keep prices as affordable as possible.

Organised Groups such as Schools, Colleges, Charities or Care Homes can contact us to book a residential trip at any time in the year usually ranging from 2 – 7 nights in duration. We work with groups to discuss their needs and abilities as well as their aims and objectives for a trip, it may be simply to have fun or to give your group new opportunities to challenge themselves and build confidence. With over 40 years’ experience and a fantastic range of both onsite and offsite adventure activities, we are able to create a tailor-made activity programme to suit your needs. Residential packages include accommodation, food and activities. We also have several minibuses to take groups off site to experience activities like Caving or Canoeing.

Day Activities & Events – We are sometimes able to provide day activities and put on other events such as Activity Festivals and Festive Events. Please refer to our website “News and Events” section or our Facebook Events for information on our upcoming events.
